About Us

Welcome to Westlake Middle School!

Westlake offers an exceptional middle school experience for scholars. With an emphasis on academics, the Arts also have a strong presence on our campus and is integrated into every classroom.  We have an award winning instrumental music program, studio art program, as well as  choir, drama and computer science. An extended day program facilitated by Citizen Schools, offers both academic and enrichment classes. We hold high expectations for all of our scholars and utilize Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) strategies to ensure a safe and nurturing learning environment.

Westlake is deeply connected to the community and in being so provides counseling services, case management and conflict resolution services for scholars. Westlake serves a very diverse population with scholars from all across the beautiful city of Oakland attending our school.  We have a large English Learner population as well as services for scholars with special needs.  Our multicultural student population is one of the facets that make Westlake an amazing place to learn and work!
